IBM's Global Ambassador for Security, focused on Data Security
As the WW Data Security Leader, Ian Wight is responsible for sales and strategy across IBM’s Data Security platform, Guardium. Ian has supported Guardium’s mission since 2009, when IBM acquired Guardium. In his current role since 2021, Ian has been focused on growing client engagement and driving an outcome-based platform. Ian is passionate about helping all organizations reduce data security risks.
Previously to his current role, Ian led 3 IBM Business Partners focused on Data Security consulting. In those roles, Ian focused on leveraging the IBM Guardium platform to help clients meet data security requirements. During his 10 years leading those consulting organizations, Ian helped hundreds of clients across all industries through their data security journeys.
By having the opportunity to meet with clients globally, Ian takes the feedback he hears and engages with the internal IBM Development, Engineering, Product Management, Consulting, and Sales teams to build and deliver the world's #1 data security platform.
Ian is based in Toronto, Canada with his wife and 2 sons. Having the opportunity to visit over 65 countries so far, Ian enjoys experiencing new cultures and has a thirst for history. With a background playing in the highest level of sports, Ian takes pleasure in coaching and mentoring young athletes.
